ADU TRAINS WITH MANCHESTER UNITED ACADEMY

"To go to one of the world's biggest clubs and get a chance to train is an honour and a privilege," said the youngster.

"Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of my favourite players, and getting the chance to train with them would be unbelievable. Hopefully this leads to an offer in January or in the summer transfer window next year. That would be awesome."

Freddy Adu has begun his two-week trial with Manchester United training with the club's academy players.

Adu, 17, has been given permission to visit Old Trafford by his club, DC United, and with Sir Alex Ferguson and his first team squad in Glasgow for tonight's Champions League match with Celtic, he trained with United's academy players.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has tracked the progress of the teenager for a number of years and attempted to bring Adu and his mother, who originally hail from Ghana, to England before the midfielder joined DC United.
