JERSEY NATIVE, FORMER PARMA ACADEMY YOUTH PRO, SCORES IN
MAN U FIRST TEAM DEBUT
Clifton, New jersey, native Giuseppi Rossi scored his
first professional goal for Manchester United on
Saturday in the team's 3-1 win against Sunderland. Rossi
came on as a late substitute and scored in the 87th
minute, powering home a 25-yard shot.
"It's a fantastic league debut for Giuseppe Rossi,"
Manchester United assistant and former MetroStars head
coach Carlos Queiroz told the team's Website. "He's a
young talent and we decided at the start of the season
that he should train with the first-team. We are very
happy with the progress he has made."
Rossi, 18, joined Manchester United in July of 2004
after spending two seasons in the Parma youth system.
The son of legendary Clifton High School boys soccer
coach Fernando Rossi, Giuseppi helped lead Manchester
United's reserve team to a title last season and has
worked his way on to the first-team roster after
starting the reserve season in impressive fashion.
